On Thursday, September 20th, St. Cloud High School had a competition against Gateway High School. This event was held at the Denn John Pool, the teammates were very supportive of their fellow swimmer’s. Lisa Merrel, the girls head swimming coach feels very proud of the team and how far they’ve come stating “They are awesome they performed very well both boys and girls won, which makes them think they have a chance of winning the OBC.” Merrell feels that she wouldn’t do anything differently considering to how far they have made it. The team prepared vigorously before the competition at the Florida Southern College.” This experience was amazing and marvelous, and I’ve met some people who are out of this world” said Alex Bacchus, a male swimmer from St. Cloud High school said. Swimming for Bacchus is very important, and he feels like he finally belongs somewhere. He spends his time practicing improving his skills and give his very best at every competition. In the end St. Cloud High School secured their victory with the boys scoring 193 vs Gateway boys 87, and the girls were victorious with a narrow win of 154 to Gateway High School 141.
